Default How music effects my play....

I am a semi-pro DJ, who spends almost all of his waking hours listening to music of some sort. (I play a very specific sub-section of electronic house, for anyone who cares.)

ANYWAY

I have noticed that the music I listen to directly influences how I play. If I am listening to something aggro, my play tends to swing to the aggro side. If I am listening to something more "cerebral," I find I play a much smarter game.

I have gone so far as to make playlists for when I play, so it gets me in the right frame of mind.

Has anyone else found a similar connection?

So.... what do you listen to?

I find music by "Boards of Canada" to be perfect for a tight aggro game.

Put on some late Sonny Rollins if you want to get your fancy play syndrome working to its fullest extent. If you wanna play a solid game, Coltrane or Miles is good. If you're tilting, listen to Modest Mouse. Mwa ha ha. I always have my best sessions when listening to straight-ahead hard bop.

I would think that Transglobal Underground would be just about right.

I'll be the first one to say I listen to alot of metal. The real complex intricate stuff like Death (the band) or Megadeth or Iced Earth. Basically anythign good and melodic. Could just be because I enjoy the style of music, but I think this keeps me at a very even level where Miles Davis or Johnny Cash seem to allow my stronger emotions (like tilty behavior) to pull through.
