Default too frisky?

Looking back, I don't like the three bet of the turn at all. At the time, I figured I have 9 flush outs, three eight outs, and maybe 2 king outs, and my hand might have been good anyways. Feel free to rip apart.

Party Poker 0.5/1 Hold'em (9 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is SB with K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. UTG posts a blind of $0.5.
UTG (poster) checks, 4 folds, CO calls, 1 fold, Hero completes, BB checks.

Flop: (4 SB) 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (4 players)
Hero bets, BB calls, UTG folds, CO folds.

Turn: (3 BB) K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero bets, BB raises, Hero 3-bets, BB calls.

River: (9 BB) Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero checks, BB bets, Hero calls.

Final Pot: 11 BB

When he raises the turn, I'm pretty sure I need to improve to my flush to win. I put BB on a flopped straight. I would call down from there.

You also have your gutshot outs. I'm not sure about the raise, but I would bet the river instead of giving BB a chance to get a free showdown. He could have been getting frisky himself with a weaker king.

Don't forget that you also have a gutshot. I love that utg posted.

I like your turn 3-bet. You have top pair, three 5's for a gutshot, 9 more to a flush, and three 8's for K's up (I don't think another K will help much if the BB also has a K). You have 15 outs to improve on the turn. Only one overcard can come to beat your pair. Raise for value.

Bet the river. Your kicker isn't great, but it could still be good against the big blind.

I thought about that as well, which is why I'm not sure I would 3-bet the turn. But what if BB put us on a paired flop, and he raised the turn with a weaker king? Is that realistic, or am I just giving myself a rationalization to spew?

hahah, go figure i disagree with you...at least sorta the only K hands we beat are K2, K3, K5. i thought about playing it the way you suggest Bodhi, but i don't think i could play it differently than the OP.

if he's betting some flush draw or something, he got it on the river and i doubt our kicker is good either.

Ummm, T9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] is not a straight, it's a flush. Add that guy to your buddy list. The pot was too small for him to even call on the flop. 5:1 for two medium overcards and a backdoor flush is not nearly good enough. He was basically counting his overcards as 3 outs each, or not counting at all.
