Will Thursday be too late to register for event 2?

I missed pre-registration for event 2 and was going head out to Vegas thursday night but won't be there until about midnight. They are expecting it sell out was wondering if anyone thinks that that the event will be sold out by Thursday night?

Oh well if so i'll play PL on Saturday.

I hope not. I have a feeling that everyone thinks it's going to sell out because our only point of reference is twoplustwo, where it seems like half the posters are playing.

I doubt it will sell out. But I think 1,300-1,500 is a good estimate, given 800+ last year. That said, I'd register early, because there will surely be a line on Friday morning.

I agree--I really doubt it will sell out before the day-of if at all, but I'll try to get to the rio early on thursday anyway.

Yes I do think that - despite lots of people disagreeing. I flew into Vegas today and trekked down the Rio [I'm not walking next time] to register [I hadnt pre-registered]. I noticed the guy in front of me in the queue was also registering for the same event, and two other English guys behind me at the next window were registering for it as well. So in a completely random 5-minute slot on Tuesday you've got 4 people registering. Extrapolate that, add in all the pre-registered, and you could get to 2000 very quickly.

The max is for the prelim is 2200.

When i called the Rio on Tuesday, asking if i could still FAX my registration, they said no. They also said they expect to sell out. I guess i can bring my laptop and get some work done on Friday just in case it is sold out and play on saturday (maybe try to pick up a satellite for saturday save some money). Hopefully there a few the pre-registered and put down a eposit that don't show up.

I'll call as I get close to vegas Thursday night.

Anyone have any sense how many days a tournament with 2000 players will last? How about 1000?

It will be a two day event, according to the web site. The first day will last until the final table or the 12th level is reached (1200/2400 with 400 ante).

My guess is by this level they should have a good chunk of the field knocked out by then, the starting stack size is only 1500 and antes start at level 5 (100/200 with 25 ante).
