pocket nines 3-6
3-6 online. new to table so no reads. folded to mp who raises i three bet. all fold to orig raiser and he calls. flop comes 10,4,3 rainbow. he checks i bet he calls. turn is q completeing rainbow. check i bet he calls. river is 10. check bet he calls. should i check behind on the river

Yes you should check the river behind against an unknown. What holdings will he call with? Most hands that call beat you, and most hands you beat fold. If you have a read that villain likes to show down unimproved overcards to a river bet then bet again.

I don't see how that river could have helped him, and unless he made a strange slowplay on the flop or turn, I doubt that you are behind here. So what calls, that you beat?
AK might call UI, and I could see lower pocket pairs calling as well. Bottomline is that few hands we beat will call, but he is very unlikely to have a hand that beats us. I think there is a thin valuebet here. |

I'm not 3-betting 99 against an unknown at 3/6. Alot of people disagree with me here, but I think it's right. There are alot of times I do 3-bet 99, but not at a table of unknowns. So I fold preflop here.
River I check behind. I would bet it if I could fold to a check-raise, but I can't, so I check behind. |
