Default What\'s so awful about Party 1/2 full?

Time after time, people lament about how awful 1/2 full is. How it's so much tighter, yadayadayada. Where does that come from? From what I've seen, the play on the 1/2 full tables is marginally better than the .50/1.00 tables. Admittedly I don't have much time in on Party 1/2 full, but if what I saw tonight is any indication of what's to expect, I don't see the big deal.

Still plenty of people limping crap in EP; there's still plenty of people calling raises and re-raises with things like A8o; there's still plenty of people betting their flopped gutshot into a PFR; there's still plenty of people chasing A-high to the river. Yes, there are some good players, but it's no where near as bad as people make it out to be, in my opinion.

I've spent most of my time at $1/2 at the 9max tables and have had no trouble finding great games.

i think it's mostly from people trying to find a excuse to why they are currently losing at 1/2. I havn't had any trouble finding bad tables at 1/2 either.

People that haven't adjusted to the game that want to find something else to blame besides their own play.

It depends on what time you play!!!!
I have 25k hands on each level, on 0.5/1 ASF is 40 % and on 1/2 it's 29 %. 29 % is very tight!
But I play european daytime, late evenings and weekends when more americans play the game is looser.

Its a rock garden during the day, but during the peak hours its very comparable to .50/1.

If you can't beat 1/2 for more then 2.5 BB you've got room for improvement.

I think it's gotten better since they've added the new tables

If you can't find a loose 1/2 party table you're either having a bad dream or accidently logged onto PokerStars and haven't noticed yet

I'm one of those people. WLLH was the first thing I ever read about poker and I easily beat .50/1.00 for ~3 BB/100 playing like a rock. I've never had to learn to play shorthanded or how to deal with small pots. That's why so far I've played break even for 5k hands (ok well I'm actually winning .2 BB/100). I've started SSH again and I've been spending more time posting here so hopefully I'll turn things around soon.
