Default Losing into the night

I just started going to brick and mortar casinos and the past two times i've gone i've played 4-8 limit, bought in with 100 dollars, doubled it, then lost it all. I start playing around 7 and at about 2 is when it seems like the tables become full of people who will call with anything and always seem to catch...does this happen to anyone else? Is there a time when it seems that more good players are at the tables??

Yeah, I've definately seen this. I attribute this to the drunk factor. It's also when the dumb blonds hit the table and manage to chase down a few pots with their Ace-rag (with a smug look on their face) and then you can't get them to fold - ever. If I'm not too tired I'll stick around but I am fully aware that the variance of the table just shot up. But, if my patience isn't up to the task I take my money and leave.

I had the same problem in shreveport this past week. People would call down with anything just to see five cards then fold to call on the river to "keep you honest." This one guy said it everytime he called on the river with either A high or K high. I didn't really understand what he was doing lol. worst poker oh my life getting trips cracked on the flop to a boat on the river three times and seeing a capped pot preflop with 7 callers.

Overall it showed me why I hate limit poker

You and the OP would get a lot out of studying Small Stakes Holdem by Ed Miller. Games like you describe are actually the most profitable type you'll ever find.

Too true. Drooling just reading about them.

If you can't beat idiots, who can you beat?

this is true but I still have to say there are nights when I just can't beat these low limit games. I find most of the time I either have a great night where I win a ton, or a night when all the drunks begin hitting their 2 out river cards and take pots away from me. I've read SSHE and it's improved my game incredibly, but sometimes there's nothing you can do to prevent bad luck.

I had the same thing happen to me just last night in a local B&M 3/6 game. I was up about $125 when I got moved to a different table (it'sa a 4 day a week game with the long-termers moving up to a "main table"). There were 3 maniacs and I was out of position on the right of the big loser. The other two ganged up on him and capped 50% of the preflops. I folded a few winners and missplayed a few. In short I lost it all because I let myself be drawn into the mayhem. I should have just left when I saw what kind of game it was. I'll know next time what to do.
