Re: Play along: interesting 99 hand
After poorly analyzing this hand with Jason over AIM, my suggestion to posters is to develop a plan for all 3 streets.

Bet and fold to a raise. I don't think AK would C/R here.

Re: Play along: interesting 99 hand
"Hero checks for a vital free card." I don't like the way this hand is going for you. MP could easily have JJ; barring that, the odds are reasonable that he's got a bigger pair than you. If he somehow doesn't have you beaten, he's got ten outs to beat you on two streets: he's not going to fold for a bet. Add to this the fact that BB has...whatever he's got that was worth calling two bets preflop. It might be nothing, but it's probably something.
If you're ahead, the margin is razor-thin. If you're behind, you're drawing to two outs. I check with the intention of folding to a single bet if the turn is a scare card (A, K, Q, or T), calling if the turn card is a blank, and raising if the turn card is a 9. I realize the pot is large, and I'm normally all for a bet, but I just don't see the profit in it, what with the two overcards on the board. If you had reads, a bet might become correct, especially if you knew MP had loose raising standards, BB overprotects his blinds, either was willing to fold a big pot for one small bet, or both players were too straightforward to check-raise on the flop. |

Re: Play along: interesting 99 hand
I bet the flop and fold to a raise. If he just calls the flop bet and checks the turn, I check the turn and decide if I want to call if he bets out the river. If he bets the turn, I fold.

Re: Play along: interesting 99 hand
I like checking and praying for a turned miracle, but the flop action combined with the PF makes me think I'm behind (and even that teh turn miracle may make me a second best hand)

Re: Play along: interesting 99 hand
Me too. Bet the flop fold to a raise. Check behind on the turn and reconsider the river.
