Default First 2/4 hand

I'm just a 1/2 player. Decided to play 1 orbit of 2/4 and my first hand I get AQo in the BB . I think the flop and turn check raise are standard. Call down once he 3 bets the turn?

Party Poker 2/4 Hold'em (10 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is BB with A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img].
<font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, <font color="#CC3333">UTG+1 raises</font>, <font color="#666666">3 folds</font>, MP3 calls, <font color="#666666">2 folds</font>, Hero calls.

Flop: (6.50 SB) Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(4 players)</font>
Hero checks, <font color="#CC3333">UTG+1 bets</font>, MP3 calls, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises</font>, <font color="#CC3333">UTG+1 3-bets</font>, MP3 folds, Hero calls.

Turn: (6.75 BB) 3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(3 players)</font>
Hero checks, <font color="#CC3333">UTG+1 bets</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises</font>, <font color="#CC3333">UTG+1 3-bets</font>, Hero ???

I would cap the flop and lead the turn. If I get raised I would call down.

Cap the flop and take it from there.

This line does save us .5BB if we're likely behind, but loses .5BB if we're ahead. Once he 3 bets the flop we're ahead here more often than behind, assuming his range is AA, QQ, or AK, he could even have a worse range than this as he's unknown.

Heads-up, I typically don't cap the flop, as I'd like to make an extra .5 BB by having him bet the turn, since you are so likely to have the best hand.

Having said that, I would have ended up in the same situation as you, and I'm calling down from there, even though I'm putting him on an overplayed AK.

You are probably right.

Why did you post the hand?

Because I ended up capping the turn, leading the river and calling his raise, of course he had AA. I usually seem to make the wrong play at the tables and the right play away from them after I've thought about it. I'm probably just used to idiots at .50/1 playing AK this way.
