Default Day #1 Cold Turkey

Today was the first day of non-smoking for me in about 14 years, I have tried gum, patches, etc. and Today I just said [censored] it I am quiting smoking.

I feel like absolute [censored].

I have about 6 more minutes to go in the day in CST so I know I have this day complete.

I smoke 2+ packs of Salem Light 100s a day. I buy 3 cartons every 2 weeks and I also get 2 free packs each time I go to the B&M casino which is about 2-3 times a week so in 2 weeks I easily smoke 40 packs of cigarettes, and have smoked this much for about 8 years.

Has anyone else just quit Cold Turkey???
How long do the cravings last???
I really want a cigarette now!!!! but I am not going to the store to get any.
I have to make this work!!!

Anyone have any advice???

I don't care how you do it. Just do it.

My grandfather refused to quit. Emphysema is a slow, embarassing, torturous death. You don't want to go there man.

I remember your first post about it but missed follow ups, have you stopped smoking or did you start up again?

Dude, an extremely high percentage of all successful quitters is made up of people who did it cold turkey.

Advice? Take a hell of a lot of pride, over and over again, in the balls it takes to make and stick by your choice, and it will make it a lot easier. It won't do a thing to get rid of the craving, but will do a hell of a lot to help you quit despite the craving. The craving seems like the major part of the difficulty of quitting, but actually it's not. It's having the perspective, and your head under control enough, that you're still willing to anyway.

If there was no craving at all, you still couldn't quit if your head wasn't into quitting at a higher level.
