First Time Post need advise
Hey first time posting and need your advise on the following play. For your info this is a ring game table at Pokerroom, DreamLeader seems like a solid player while I have seen 8bitar chase 2 flushes (and get them for wins). Table has been very passive to this point with most people taking the pots pre flop.
Texas Hold'em $2-$4 NL (real money), hand #921,596,903 Table Kassel, 21 May 2005 5:26 PM ET Seat 1: DreamLeader Seat 3: Mav2029 Seat 4: bautotrimm Seat 5: 8bitar Seat 6: BulldogMafia [ AC,AD ] Seat 7: WildWilliam Seat 8: VIZ14 Seat 9: snwbrdr3448 Seat 10: thorinx ANTES/BLINDS Mav2029 posts blind ($1), bautotrimm posts blind ($2). PRE-FLOP 8bitar calls $2, BulldogMafia bets $7, WildWilliam folds, VIZ14 folds, snwbrdr3448 folds, thorinx folds, DreamLeader calls $7, Mav2029 folds, bautotrimm folds, 8bitar calls $5. FLOP [board cards 5D,7S,JH ] 8bitar checks, BulldogMafia bets $5, DreamLeader calls $5, 8bitar calls $5. TURN [board cards 5D,7S,JH,QS ] 8bitar checks, BulldogMafia bets $10, DreamLeader bets $20, 8bitar calls $20, BulldogMafia calls $10. RIVER [board cards 5D,7S,JH,QS,AS ] 8bitar checks, BulldogMafia checks, DreamLeader bets $25 and is all-in, 8bitar bets $60.25 and is all-in, BulldogMafia ……… I will post the results in a few but just wanted your take…Thanks |

Re: First Time Post need advise
Underbet on every street except maybe preflop.
Flop ($24): you bet $5??? Make it $15 at least Turn ($39): you bet $10?? Get min-raised, flat-call. First, bet more like $25-$30, and re-raise the min raise. River ($99): Check call $60 with a pot of $184 with top set? Sure, but you never should have let the UTG backdoor the flush. |

You really need to brush up on pot odds and hand protection. Those underbets make me cringe.

Re: First Time Post need advise
Hmmm...I don't like slowplaying AA. People think that's a good play, but it can bite you. I would put 8bitar on KT and/or spades since he seems to like flushes.
So, I would have gone for the cutoff play on the flop and made a pot-sized bet. I was in a $2-5 NL game at a local casino a couple of weeks ago. I got A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] and a flop of 5 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]A [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]7 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. The 1st player to act was to my right and he bet $20. With 2 players yet to act, I reraised $50. The two folded and after a long consideration, the original bettor folded to the raise. I got a $40 pot...big deal. What I most certainly avoided was a folding a set of As to a [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]flush on the turn or river. I'll take a lot of $40 pots over getting into close decisions on $400 pots. BTW, I started the above session with $200 and cashed out for dinner with $569 for 3 hours of play. Re: First Time Post need advise
yuck.
pot the flop. bet about 2/3 on the turn. get the rest in on the river. posting stack sizes is also helpful for analyzing the hand. |
