Walking to Rio
Hello,
The Gold Coast has great room rates, $50/night for the WSOP. I was wondering if you could walk to the Rio from there? If so, how far away is it? Thanks in advance. |

Re: Walking to Rio
It's right next door, and yes, you can walk to it. 5 Minutes maybe.

[/ QUOTE ] If I remember correctly it's right across the street, and very walkable there are many "_______ Coast" hotels in vegas, so as long as this is the one near Rio (i always get them confused), it's very close. |

Re: Walking to Rio
I got weekday rates at the Palms for $69/night. Played but not stayed there, however I was told by some folks here its not appreciable farther but the rooms/casino are worth the extra couple bucks.
Might be worth checking out. |

Re: Walking to Rio
You can easily walk from Gold Coast to Rio, however, I would second one of the suggestions made by another. The Palms may be an extra five minute walk (10 instead of five) but everything there is much nicer (the rooms, the food, the ladies). If I had to choose between the two it there would be no comparision. Why are you interested in the walking distance to the Rio?
Also . . has anyone played in the Hold Em tourneys at the Rio. I very well may be there next week and would be interested in all details on their tourneys. This will be the first time going to Vegas where I will be more interested in Hold Em than Blackjack. Thanks, Les |

Thanks, Les [/ QUOTE ] The daily tourneys at the RIO are a fish pond. If you're any good at tournament poker, you'll have an advantage over the field. It's amazing how bad these players are - most seem to be beginners...not a hand goes by where someone doesn't know what to do, or that it's their turn to act, or the simple rules of poker, etc... The RIO and the Orleans both have great daily tourneys |

Re: Walking to Rio
Keep in mind the historical average high temperatures in Las Vegas during the months of June & July are 99 & 104 respectively. I was out there last July and it was HOT! (Over 105 every day) Dry heat or not, when it's over 100 it makes walking any significant distance pretty darn uncomfortable.

Re: Walking to Rio
You'll be o'k for a 10 minute walk. I walk all the time here in Arizona, and it's been 110 the past week (of course, I'm used to it, so who knows).

On an aside, the Rio's top-shelf tequilla is Jose Cuervo.
