Default Granny Betting Into Hellmuth\'s Flopped Royal Flush

GrannyMae,

I saw you briefly allude to this in one of the WSOP threads or "the hat" WPT trip report thread. (at least, I think I did)

Long before I found 2+2, I was reading various online poker strategy guides...none very good of course, but I thought they were at the time. Anyhoo, one of the few I remember was a column written by PH. He was talking about how stupid online players were or something. He flopped a royal flush and was talking about some "nub" who capped the flop with him. I forget how the rest of it went, but that column stuck in my mind.

Then I saw your comment in that thread...again, "I think". Was he really talking about you???? If so, that's hilarious. If not, meh, PH is still stupid. I'm going to search, but I hope someone can dig up this column. Mad props to anyone who does.

go go gadget granny, kick me 1 share worth of ass in the WSOP.

Haha, that's exactly it. Thanks contentless!

I totally remember thinking "Wow, this guy is a douche" at the time. As if the writing wasn't enough, that picture sealed the deal. I don't think I even knew who "Phil Hellmuth" was at the time.

"Sometimes I forget that I always play with the best poker tournament players in the world, and that there are lots of poker players out there who have never even heard of the World Series of Poker."

If Granny's never heard of the WSOP, then I think I just made a -EV bet.

i talked to phil about this hand at wpt event but was sucking up and did not want to correct him. point is that he had played 3-9off same way in prior hands. it was 3 way action and all of us were playing nuts.

i did NOT put him on the royal tho

What a small world...

I liked this though...

"Last June I flew to Vienna to play in the World Heads-Up Poker Championships (WHUPC) at the Concorde Card Casino (CCC)."

That's my B&M!
