Default Bad Beat -- from the other side

It's been a while since I posted here. But I just had to tell someone about this hand, and I don't know any poker players IRL.

Stars .25/.50 limit holdem. 10 players. I've just joined the game, watched one hand and now I'm in the BB and get dealt A7o.

MP1 calls, Button raises. Everyone else has folded. I'm really wishing my A7 was suited but I take a deep breath and call anyway.

The flop comes 777.

Thank God this is online because I don't think I could stop the grin on my face. I don't want to scare anyone off so I check. MP checks, button bets. I raise. To my surprise, MP calls and button raises again. I re-raise, MP calls, button calls.

Next card is a 10. We go around again, with me and the button raising and MP calling until we max out.

The river is a 4. Another round of max betting with MP calling as the button and I raise and re-raise.

It turns out that the button had a pair of kings -- full house, 7/K.

MP was the surprise. He had 10 4 offsuit. I don't know how he could have called four bets after the flop with that, although I guess I've done things that were just as stupid. And once that 10 hit on the turn I know that I would have had a hard time laying down a full house.

You didn't want to scare off anyone with a bet, so you check-raise instead? I'd bet the flop next time personally.

No content and bad play combined together in one. Nice hand.

Thanks. How about instead of just saying "bad play" you tell me what I should have done?

1) Fold preflop.
2) Checkraising the flop sucks.

Not sure what you wanted to hear from us.

My eyes glazed as soon as I read the above statement.
