The term \"gaybet\".
A- can somebody define. I've got an idea, but I'm not positive. Something about leading the turn into a PRF?
B- whatever it is, it's dumb. Not really because it's offensive, just because it's dumb and uncreative. |

It comes out of nowhere and can mean a lot of different things. The more enlightened of the HUSH forum call it a donk-bet. Krishan |

Krishan [/ QUOTE ] http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/sh...Number=2162447 Given that there were threads with "gaybet" in the title getting deleted (this thread might be), and that there were some respected posters annoyed by the term, it was time to come up with some new lingo. (To be honest, I still usually use the term "gaybet" in my own player notes, though.) |

Re: Specifically,
Why is it a donk bet?
The Guy who checks a flop, is now betting the turn? I do this all the time. |

Why is it a donk bet? The Guy who checks a flop, is now betting the turn? I do this all the time. [/ QUOTE ] Why do you do it? The reason there is a name is because it happens frequently from bad players and it's tough to figure out what it means. Sometimes it's a weak pair, sometimes it's a draw, sometimes it's a bluff. The same response to all donk-bets doesn't get very good results. Krishan |

Re: Specifically,

Why do you do it? [/ QUOTE ] I attempt to check/raise the flop but its checked through so I bet the turn. Sometimes I bet at scare cards, or I'll have a crappy hand I want to check/fold but suddenly I have 2 pair on the turn and will bet. Its not my standard play to check the flop and bet the turn, but there are times when it comes up. |

and it's tough to figure out what it means. [/ QUOTE ] Isn't this a case for doing it? The whole thing is ridiculous since there are many times one would make this play. Bad players doing it consistently is why this term has evolved. |

Re: The term \"gaybet\".
For what it's worth, I don't think the term originated at 2+2. I'm pretty sure Stewart Reuben mentions it in his book "How Good Is Your Pot-Limit Omaha?"
