Worst play yet at home game!!
Local home game 10$ buy in usually 6 max quick tourney style games at least 2 nights a week..Last night was my worst outing ever! HIstory check on my game against my friends.. in about a total of 50 games played i have won at least 30 times and 2nd about 5-10 times! I am definately feared at the table by everyone accept one or 2 players who greatly respect my game but dont fear me. I generally dont like to blame losing on the cards and not catching hands.. I would never blame a loss on the cards ever.. but it didn't help to catch almost nothing while others were catching monsters. I found myself on tilt on one hand where someone preflop raised and i was furious.. lol and post flop bet into someone huge overbet and luckily he folded.. I found myself after the hand saying OUTLOUD.. "i cant believe i just did that" the most reckless play i have ever done and everyone knew it. they knew me to be aggressive and known that i can win with one chip in front of me.. but last night just wasn't the same. felt it as soon as i sat down.. for some reason i felt insecure about my game. Scared of losing and finding hands in front of me that i would never play/call just cause i felt i needed to win a hand to give myself a boost back into my game! Any suggestions of what to do before my next game to get my mind straight and go in there with the same mentality i have had ove the past couple of weeks.. I was always the one getting a game together.. Now after my early out in last nights performance i sense great confideence in a couple other players who want more action right away.. Looking for help so i dont go and lose my edge at the table.. thanks in advance
-Adam i think in a way this may help my image to my friends as im not as good as they think i am and that way i am underestimated now and may get more action.. But i do want my respect that i have earned and keep that edge over the other players |

Re: Worst play yet at home game!!
It's not about your grammar. It's about the fact that long interrupted blocks of text are hard to read, and many potential posters will take one look and move on without reading the whole thing.
So you're depriving yourself of responses. Of course, the bigger strike against you is that your post appears to be basically a bad beat story. That kind of thing is looked down upon around here. |

Re: Worst play yet at home game!!
well, it looks like you had a bad night...
If that upsets you, you need more tabletime or a new hobby. bad nights, weeks, months, will surely happen. hmmm... what are your options? a. post the next blind and play on... b. keep cryin' on forums until someone says it wasn't your fault because u are a misunderstood pokergenius in disguise. (might make you feel good, but not exactly good for your roll) c. try a new hobby like cross-stitch d. swallow a bullet to prevent the weak poker gean from being passed on to another generatioon. Bottom line: you lost- get over it- get used to it- it's not a big deal. -faith |

Re: Worst play yet at home game!!
How about bad beat stories when you are looking to find out if you made the right play, and not just whining?
And is Sklansky the moderator, "the" Sklansky? KE |

KE [/ QUOTE ] Well the only way to really know what reaction a post will get is to post it. But for hand analysis, it's considered best to not post the result of the hand, just the variables up to the decision point, so as to avoid result-tainted responses. If you choose to post the result after receiving some analysis, that's up to you. The moderator of these forums is Mat Sklansky, David ("The") Sklansky's son, I believe. |

Re: Worst play yet at home game!!
NO offense at all Balla but quite honestly I can tell by the post that you're not nearly as good as you think you are.
That being said I want to point out that I'm not talking [censored], just telling you that you fit the mold of every other WPT/WSOP fan that watches on TV and wins at some home tourneys then thinks he's really something special. Your "They know I can win with just one chip in front of me" line is what really makes that impression clear. Also, the people you play with aren't idiots. The reason they're more confident is because you probably picked up a lot of your wins with aggression/flat out bluffing and people are catching on. My advice to you if you want to reclaim your spot atop this homegame and win some money is simple. Read good poker books and study the game. Don't worry about courage and table image, etc because quite honestly it makes no difference in a game like the one you describe. Just look up solid poker strategy and apply it as best you can. Good luck, Matt |

Re: Worst play yet at home game!!
i struggle to believe to outright win this tourney 60% of the time. what is it, heads up between you and your pet dog?
only way you win a full table so often is that they are idiots or your a genius. i conclude you dont keep good records. |
