Dealer Inside Information
Obviously, dealers have a pretty good idea on where the good games are in the poker room - currently and in general. They also know the playing styles of the players they are dealing to.
Is there any type of rule that would prohibit them from conveyng this information to other players. I'm getting to know a couple dealers pretty well, but I didn't want to put them in an awkward position by asking off-limit questions. |

Re: Dealer Inside Information
If you feel confident that they'll willingly give you good information, just ask.
Don't bribe them. And tip a little extra the next time they deal to you. There's nothing wrong with asking a dealer, "Hey, Joe, any good games on the other side?" And getting the reply, "Yeah, the 20/40 in the corner looks good as does the 40/80 on the side." Just don't expect him to say, "Sure, there's a total fish in Seat 2 at Table 18, Seat 3 is a rock, Seat 4 is solid," etc. |

Re: Dealer Inside Information
^ exactly.
I've got a pretty good rapport with most dealers at my local card room, and in between hands every now and then I'll ask them how the 8/16 or 200NL looks. Usually they will say "8/16 is a really good game right now" or "there's a lot of action on table * right now" then the next hand I just tip them a dollar or so extra as well as when they leave. edit to clarify: it's not a bribe, but more as a "thank you" |

Most dealers don't have a clue. Some do.
You need to know which dealers to ask. |

Why don't you just scout the games yourself? It doesn't take that long.

Re: Dealer Inside Information
i might be more likely to say something like, "man...i need a game like the one when i was here last time. that game was CRAZY."
then they might say..."you should have seen the 20/40 last night. " which can lead to "it's not as good tonight but still pretty decent." something like that. more conversational and less 'hey...give me the info i'm looking for' there aren't many dealers I would do this with though as many don't have a clue anyway. |

Re: Dealer Inside Information
I am, hopefully, assuming that you mean the dealers that don't play poker and don't pay attention to the games as the ones "not having a clue"...
I can tell you, as a dealer and a player, that I do know which games are good and which games should be avoided... (any two cards are played).... If anyone asked me about what games are good or not.. I would tell them.... and I would add to it.. "I would play that game or I wouldn't play it" hopefully they would pick up on that ... But if you think I am a dealer without a clue, then you probably wouldn't pick up on my advice... pokermama |

[/ QUOTE ] I'm sure you're the exception, but I have yet to play a dealer who was anywhere near a good player. Of course there are exceptions, but the good playing dealers are very few. It seems a little odd with all the extra poker they get to see, but it's true. |
