Not really... they're both micro limits. Expect lots of loose, bad players, LAGs, and calling stations.

Re: Big difference between .25/.50 and .5/1?
I just finished about 1000 hands at stars .50/1.00 clearing the deposit bonus (didn't have a very big bonus ) I've played .5/1 6max before but that was when I was the biggest fish in the pond.
Based on my miniscule (sp) sample the .5/1 game at stars is slightly more aggressive than .25/.50. Hardly any hand not raised preflop. Other than that not too big a difference. I think it may have been me being intimidated also. Although I had more than enuf of a BR to play .50/1 I just felt too nervous playing. I felt like I was playing too scared. So once I cleared the bonus I decided to cashout all but 300BB for the .25/.50 game and build up again. When I build the bankroll up again I'll take another shot at it. Maybe I'll have more confidence by then. |

If you can win at .25/.50 you can win at .50/1 period. Get your head out of your back end and make the jump with confidence.

Spoken like a true player. Poker requires confidence.

Re: Big difference between .25/.50 and .5/1?
I've found that the biggest difference between .5/1 and .25/.50 is that in .5/1 your bets carry more fold equity. Also, there is a lot more "autobetting" (i.e. continuation bets) and reraising, and less minraising.
How about .5/1 vs 1/2? From what I understand the real gap is between 1/2 and 2/4, though I haven't played above .5/1. Thanks! M |

The bets are twice as much. Other than that, I'd expect little difference.

Re: Big difference between .25/.50 and .5/1?
Pokerstars .25/.50 was WAY different from Party Poker .50/1, in my opinion. The Stars game was a lot tighter--people folded to raises and/or aggressive play much more often.

Re: Big difference between .25/.50 and .5/1?
Thanks for the admonition.
I know you are right. It’s not that I don’t think I can win at .50/1, I just think I can learn a few more of the basics before I make the jump. Plus, what I just cashed out represented everything I’d lost since I started playing before I knew I was the fish. I’m now playing strictly with “their” money. Once I build my BR back up to the 300BB level for .50/1 I’ll be in there kickin. |
