I've been on a kick lately trying to find some good old rock n roll/rockabilly/blues whatever.
Based on what I've downloaded below, can you give some recommendations? -Chet Atkins -Carl Perkins -Elvis (That's Alright Mama AND Mess of Blues are my favs) -Little Richard -Ricky Nelson -Little Walter -Howlin' Wolf -Fats Domino -Charles Mingus -Hank Williams, Sr. ( ) -James Brown -Louis Jordan -Ray Charles -Jimmy Rogers -Buddy Holly I know this is a disjointed list, but in some way or another, they are a little related. Also, are there any good modern rockabilly bands that I should check out? Check out Led Zeppelin's live versions of "Whole Lotta Love" for some good medleys including the 2 Elvis songs above, and "Hello, Mary Lou", along with some blues tunes. |

I suggest you shut your self-righteous ass up. [/ QUOTE ] I used to own about 200 copied CD's and a few thousand mp3's. Two years ago, i just started buying everything i like. I don't have the money for it, but hey, i'll just drink a little less. I know it's given my passion for music a new boost because now it feels like my music collection is at least worth something. So this was honest advice, and if you can't respect it, that's allright, but giving me hard time about it is a little too much, don't you think? |

On a more music related note: if you wanna hear some present day rock 'n roll, you have to hear the Supersuckers, especially the lead singer's solo album.

[/ QUOTE ] I usually "taste" my music out by downloading illegally. If I like them, I go and buy their cd. If I don't like it, I never listen to it again anyways. I do admit though to keeping some stuff that I've downloaded, however, I plan on purchasing something by that artist in the future. There's only a select few bands that I will go ahead and buy their cd without knowing if it's a good album. And if I'm going to branch out stylistically I want to have an idea of what they sound like. |
