Purposefully giving bad info at the table-Image Effects

I was in a 5-5 no limit game, and not involved in the following hand.

10 handed. Call, call, MP1 raises to $40, MP2, cutoff, button, and both blinds call. EP players call. 7 players see the flop for $40

Flop is

Checked to PFR, who bets $75. BB, EP calls.

Turn is 3 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

Checked to PFR, who best $75. Call, call.

River is A [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

Checked around

EP A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]4 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] PFR(MP1) K [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]K [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] BB A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]7 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

Button takes it down and immediately is berated by EP1 for fishy play. At this point, just for fun, I chime in with this line.

Me:"His play was fine. You just don't understand pot odds. He has two big time back door nut draws on the flop. The flop bet by the PFR is to be ignored, as it is obligatory."

Which launches a multitude of howls in my direction, most vociferous coming from the EP and PFR, with the usual "You can play at my table anytime" lines thrown at me.

The overall effect of the discussion was that the table ended up playing remarkably loose from there on out.

Anyone else ever tried something like this? Comments?

I don't know what's funnier: (a) you trying to take credit for loosening up a table that has already shown it will have 7 people seeing a flop for $40, or (b) some jackasses acting as though they were badass poker players while calling with garbage like A4s.

a. that was very atypical for the table up until that point

b. Calling for $5 early on with A4s and then calling $35 more when there are six players in for $40 and u calling preflop closes the action is not a bad play at all.

Correction: should read BB takes it down with the A7 of diamonds.

I don't think moves like this are really effective. The clueless ones won't be led astray by your reasonin because they're already there. The good players may think you're clueless for an orbit or two, but will quickly see that you aren't practicing what you preach
