Is Bonus Whoring wrong?
Do you think it is wrong for a player to bonus whore? I don't see anything wrong with it. I think it's a great way to built up a bankroll. Why do online sites offer bonuses and then penalize players for using them? Discuss.

Yes. If you keep doing it, you'll go blind and grow hair on your palms.

[/ QUOTE ] Sorry, was just having fun while I was working on a longer post... I don't see that there's anything wrong with it since at my level (1/2-2/4) I'd likely not be playing as much if not for bonuses. So by enticing me with a bonus, they're getting me in there to play at times where I wouldn't otherwise have done so and thereby getting an extra person at their tables. I might feel a little dirty in that I'm rarely playing when not under a bonus, but as long as they continue to make the offers attractive (<10x rakes) then I'll keep coming back. It's not likely that folks like me comprise a sizeable percentage of their patrons, but I'm sure they see a big upswing in action when they put out a bonus. Even if they're losing out sometimes where MGR<bonus, they must be making out okay overall on the bonuses or they wouldn't keep offering them. The latest Empire trend may indicate that they're going to be getting a bit more discriminating about what sort of customers they want to have, but we'll have to see how that all plays out. |

It's not wrong, but that doesn't mean that the sites aren't well within their rights to stop dishing out bonuses to me or cutting my account off at any time they see fit.

Re: Is Bonus Whoring wrong?
It sure is immoral.
Just like using a buy-one-get-one free coupon at a pizza place. Just like getting a rebate on a computer or automobile. Just like shopping around at different places to find the lowest price for an item. Just like using the grocery card to get a cheaper price on goods at the store. The problems are the bonuses are too danged big, and the sites aren't getting any overlay on bonus whores who take advantage. |
