Default raising to find out where you\'re at?

is this a limit poker phenom?

im a NL player and i cannot think of any situation where raising for data actually works as a strategy.

any thoughts?

I'm a limit player, with little NL experience.
That said, I'd think the only way to raise for info in NL is a min-raise.
How are min-raises usually interpreted in NL?
I've seen the nuts or near-nuts played this way. If opponents are likely to view this as a big hand, this seems like a valid info raise.

I often raise for information in NL games. It's not useful with short stacks, but with deep stacks, it's very helpful.

For instance, you have KQ on a 9QK board. You bet and it's raised behind you. I'll often put in a 3rd raise, knowing full well that any further aggression means I'm up against a set or a straight.

Harrington On Hold'em often advocates betting for this purpose. But not re-raising.
