Default Wow.

I am over at a friend's house for a poker game. He and I are playing heads up .10/.20 limit.

We play for a while, and then I get up to use the bathroom or something. I come back and he has already dealt the cards - I have A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. The flop is Axx. I raise, he reraises, I call him down the rest of the way, he shows AA and takes the pot.

Later, I am away from the table again. I return to an already dealt hand and have KK. Flop is AKx. We raise and reraise each other all the way down. The river is another A giving me KKKAA. He shows AA and takes the pot.

Hmmm.

Later, I need to use the bathroom again. I am curious about what hand I will find upon my return. I return to the table, he deals the cards, I have AKo. He raises.

Hmmm.

I contemplated folding just to see the look on his face, but decided I really wanted to see what was going to happen. I just called. Flop is K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. He checks, I check. Turn is a rag, he checks, I check. River is a rag, he bets, I call and show my AKo.

Ready for this?

He shows A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img].

Now, here's the best part.

He says "it's yours" as he sweeps his cards, my cards, and the board cards away.

Me: "Look again" as I spread the cards back out.

Him: "What?"

Me: "Look at the board."

Him: "Oh, I had a flush."

Me: "Look again, dude."

Duh.

It was .10/.20 limit. It was worth the $4 or whatever it was for me to find out how far he would take it.

Interesting choice of words for a guy who needs to scam you at a nickle and dime poker game.

Well, the way I played my AKo was partly so that he would know that I knew.

I knew that he knew that I knew when he swept away his royal. I wanted to see what he would say or do. He acted like he didn't realize what he had, then he acted like he thought I was messing with him and that those weren't really what the board cards were.

As I was leaving, I said something like "I learned a lot tonight about the way you play."

This needs to be followed up with a black eye, IMO.

And not calling him on it the first, second, or third time makes you ridiculously slow, ridiculously benevolent, or ridiculously trusting. I, on the other hand, would be ridiculously angry.

I think you may want to go to the doctor and have your bladder checked.

Sounds good, but wouldn't be worth it IMO.

Ridiculously curious, perhaps. I wanted to see how far he would try to push it, and at .10/.20, I decided it was worth it for me to find out.

Yeah, I'm irritated, though I'm more like "wtf?" than I am angry, given the facts that:

- it's a friend of mine
- it was obvious what he was doing
- he did it repeatedly
- it was frickin .10/.20
