Preflop: Hero is BB with 3[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].

SB checks, Hero scratches his head and ????

I don't. This is a crappy position and your hand while probably best, will unlikely to be best at showdown. A bet here is basically a bluff with some extra information. If you think your opponents will fold then go for it. Otherwise check and use your reads to see how things develop.

i usually bet here, but you make some good points. checking gives you a better idea of what you're up against. depending on what position the bet comes from, how many callers, etc...

i check fold this bottom pair on a paired board with 2 outs that may be toast if there is a Q in play not worth it.

No matter what action you choose to take on the flop is easy compared to what happens when you end up seeing the turn.

Depending on stuff, I could see myself doing pretty much everything on this flop. (bet, check-call, check-fold, check-raise).
