Default Best place to visit abroad for poker?

I'm looking to take a vacation later on this year with some friends who are also big poker players. It's not the sole purpose of the trip, but we'd like to go somewhere we could play some poker for a few days.

From my searching around the 'net it seems like Austria is the place with the most (and largest) cardrooms in Europe. Anywhere else that people would recommend?

Mississippi is a lot like a foreign country if you're not from around there.

I've heard the Aviation Club in Paris is really nice. I have a few friends who have played there and they loved it.

I'd take Paris over Austria for a vacation (I loved Austria and Germany but they aint Paris) but the big sell for poker junkies is the Aviation Club. Do the James Bond thing and try Paris. Oh la la.

I thought that was by invite only to play there....and it was high stakes - am I wrong?

Lol...funny, I was thinking that before I went there for the first time. I thought I would be totally out of place. But the people there are really friendly, even to an obvious outsider and even when they lose. I would like to get back there at some point.

I was just thinking about this today myself! Not that I'm planning any trips, just wondering where people play internationally. What about Asia? Isn't Wynn opening a place in China soon?

First of all, as great as Paris is, remember its French. I recommend Vancouver.

No Vegas sized casinos but the River Rock by the airport has a great room with electronic boards, pagers and awful players. In addition, there is a new Casino downtown that has some tables...Last but not least where else can you walk down the street, drop into a nice little store that sells good eats, good coffee and has a glassed in smoking room where no one smokes tobacco....

Oh and you can probably still ski/snowboard at Whistler...

Paris is nice for a vacation. The rake at the Aviation club looks pretty brutal though. For limit games they rake up to 8 on the 4-8, and have a time charge of 20 per hour on the 10-20 up to 90 per hour on the 400-800!

That would really start eating into your win with that kind of money coming off the table. Still be fun to visit though, I'm sure.
