77, Flop Push Relatively Late in Tourney for 15BB, idiotic?
I dont have the hand history but it goes like this:
Blinds are 150/300, Party NL hold 'em Tourney, 1424 entrants, 242 players left. Hero is UTG with 77 and open raises to 725. Folds to Cutoff who has about 9000 and calls. Everyone else folds. FLOP [pot: 1975]: 2c 4c 4s Hero pushes his last 4500 or so into the middle. I have what I think are good reasons for the push, but I'd like to see what people think. Results to follow. |

Re: 77, Flop Push Relatively Late in Tourney for 15BB, idiotic?
don't see any reason to raise with 77 in that position
presume the reason for the push is in the hopes that it looks like a desperate i just missed the flop overbet which might get called by AK,but even so i dont see much need to risk your chips in this particular situation |

He can't call without an overpair or a 4 or 22. So he folds all the hands you beat and calls with all the hands that beat you, except maybe 55 or 66.
I would probably lead out 1400 and fold to a push. |
