How long does it take to run a B&M tourney on average with about 500 entrants?

The poker manager at the bicycle club or commerce casino could tell you this off the top of his head.

There is a formula for this which I don't have, but you also need starting stacks, levels and time per /level to know the answer

I've played in quite a few tournaments with 350-450 entrants. Given the structures of those tournaments it takes about 10 hours or so to play (give or take 1-2 hours). That said, there is no right answer since it depends on the initial stack sizes, the blinds and the time for each level. I believe that these 10 hour tournaments usually start with 2-3k in chips, blinds starting at around 15/25 (or 25/25), with levels of 1 hour each and blinds doubling every level.

lawyer,
I think the formula is when the BB gets to be the size of the starting chip stack (no re-buy or add-on)the tournament is close to over. So if you know the blind shcedule of the tourney you should be able to figure close. Walt |

I depends on the level times and blind sizes. There is a site that is talked about regularly on the Home Poker forum that can give you all the information you need. I don't remember what it is and I'm too lazy to go and look it up.
OK, I got curious and looked it up... Here is the direct link to the Blinds portion of the website. For more information about a Home Poker tournament, you should post in the Home Poker forum... |
