Default WARNING: HIGH nOOb CONTENT

Hey everyone,

I've been a reader and admirer of this site for about a year now and thought it was about time I try and join this elite group of poker posters. I've been playing for about 2 years now and just recently created an online account on pokerroom.com (no choice...I'm a mac user). The $50 I deposited a month ago has grown to $1500 after playing many a SNG. I just started keeping track of my results but, because I'm relatively new to all this, I'm not sure what I need to be tracking/analyzing to help my game. I know a little about ITM and ROI figures just from perusing this site, but is there anything else I should be analyzing in order to improve my game?

Anyways, I'd appreciate any general advice or suggestions. Some words of encouragement would be nice too. But don't hold back on the nOOb bashing...I've braced myself.

There are a number of spreadsheets that you can punch your data into that will calculate and keep track of all of the most important data for you. I believe the latest one is available here: dfscott's latest AM spreadsheet.

ITM and ROI are seen as the two most important stats (although the current trend around here seems to be that you shouldn't worry about them at all. I disagree to some extent.) ROR is one you might want to keep an eye on as well. If you're serious about SnG's, and poker in general, I suggest you buy Pokertracker. That's the best way to look in depth at the minute aspects of your game and reach your maximum potential. Best of luck.

Right on. Thanks. Just a couple more quick things. ROR? Any chance Pokertracker has a mac version?

Thanks again

ROR = Risk Of Ruin, or the approximate probability that you will go broke with a given bankroll.

I don't know if PT works on Macs or not, my best guess is no. Use your winnings to buy a PC

Or cheaper, spend a couple hundred on vmware and a copy of winXP and then you can keep microsoft software where it belongs (in a cage).

Note: My bias against MS is mostly for comedic effect. I do recommend vmware or virtual pc (if it's still available on macs) rather than purchasing more hardware.

how does 40% sound (!)
Just last night i clicked one of th banners on the right that said "up to 40% rakeback" Im a sucker like that.

The rakeback site listed the standard 20-25% of the normal sites, so im scrolling down like wtf is this 40%. Lo and behold, near the bottom, it says:

"40% for betonbet.com, a pokerroom skin"

First i heard about this site. It appears to be one of them sportsbook/casino/poker sites.

But, 40% sounds juicy, eh?

ANyways, i dont see that banner now, but next tme you see it....have a look-see for yourself.

Give me a update if you go for it.

I just noticed that BoB added a new 30% flat rakeback, which makes it much more attractive.
The 40% plateau is pretty much impossible to reach, even at the 100's. (few and far between at PR)

I never heard of hollywoodpoker, I don't see any mention of a bonus on their site either.
I'll probably give that a try after I go fulltilt (st4lking limpin like no tomorrow)
