How fast should blinds increase?
I played in a freeroll invitational in Greenville, Indiana this afternoon. 80 players, started at 1 p.m., everyone started with 1,000 in chips. Blinds started at 25-25 and went to 25-50 after 20 minutes, and doubled every 20 minutes after that.
I finished in 20th place, at 3 p.m. A good time was had, but I'm thinking that the blinds were raised too fast, too quickly. I went out with an all in bet with 1,000 in chips, after the blinds were just raised to 200-400. What do you think? Does it take some of the fun out of the game and reduce the skill factor when the blinds skyrocket like that? |

Re: How fast should blinds increase?
Poet,
That is actually a decent blind structure for a freeroll. the on-line ones go up every 10-15 min. I gather this was at a casino as well and for them to give up table space for a freeroll is rare so the 20min blind increases seem good IMO. Walt |

Walt [/ QUOTE ] Hey Walt, Nope, it was at a sports bar - there are no casinos in Indiana (well, there are, up in Lake Michigan, right on the border, but those are so close to Chicago that they don't count). Two problems with raising the blinds so quickly is that we were self-dealing, so there was a lot of BSing. There weren't nearly enough hands dealt every 20 minutes to justify the increase. Maybe if we had dedicated dealers. |
