Default River pairs board

Villain is unknown, he seems weak from the 2 orbits I've seen. My initial read was flush draw for him. Felt river raise was good here with a call for a possible 3bet.

Ultimate Bet 1/2 Hold'em (6 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is CO with A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img].
UTG calls, MP calls, Hero raises, 3 folds, UTG calls, MP calls.

Flop: (7.50 SB) A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (3 players)
UTG checks, MP bets, Hero raises, UTG folds, MP calls.

Turn: (5.75 BB) 2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players)

Final Pot: 10.75 BB

I just call the river here. If he's betting his busted flush draw there's no value in raising him. If he has an 8 and 3-bets however, you just cost yourself 2 bets.

Looks good.

On the river, if he is a weak player, you aren't getting any value out of that raise. He's folding most anything you beat.

If he's a LAG or passive calling station (who will call with a worse pair/ace), then I'd be more inclined to raise the river.

Anyways, making him fold on the river, and blunting his bluff has probably done wonders for you at the table. He won't want to tangle with you again.

... just wondering if this is necessarily a good thing.

?

(For the record, I see no purpose in raising this river).
