Default odds of flopping a set?

I wasnt sure which forum to post this in so I just chose this one. My question is this. Can someone show me the math for flopping a set?

I understand that it is roughly 7.5 - 1, but I am not sure how to arrive at that conclusion. My math looks like this:
2/50 + 2/49 + 2/48= 12.16 % Is this correct? cause that does not equal 7.5 - 1. That is more like 8.3 - 1. Can someone please help me real quick.

it's 1:7.5 so basically 1/8.5 which is pretty close to your 1/8.3 figure.

you cannot add the probabilities like that

here's how i do it:

probability of not hitting a set =

(48/50)*(47/49)*(46/48)

take 1 - that number and you have the odds to hit either a set, boat, or quads

Does this translate to flopping a set with 1 out of 9 PPs.
