Default KK Against a TAG

Button is a multitabling TAG. I'd be pretty surprised if he wasn't a 2p2er

That's a tough lay down that I couldn't make. I would have called down the turn 3bet and probably been shown AA or 99.

pretty much the only thing I like about playing TAGs is you can assume they're same. if he has QQ, he's going to want to get to showdown against me. an idiot might think "holy [censored] i have queens, no way im losing this" and 3-bet, but I can trust a TAG to properly assess that (1) he's probably not ahead, and (2) he probably can't make me fold a better hand, so the best play is to call down.

Oh I completely agree - I would probably play my aces pretty much the same way if I were the villain in this hand. I think you made a good fold - I don't think I would have made it though.

If button calls the turn check-raise then raises the river do you pay off?

Your effective pot odds are much more favorable in the river raise situation. I'll usually call the check-raise, then raise the river with AA or 99 here against a TAG for precisely this reason. My thoughts are you are more likely to get that extra bet in on the river.

I don't think its a particularly difficult fold in either situation.
