Default Cold calling borderline preflop hand with other cold callers

Inspired by istewart's poll: You've got AQ (which for me is a borderline situation in a raised pot -- use whatever hand would put you on the fence) in LP, and an EP player raises pre-flop. What is the effect the number of cold-callers between you and the raiser?

It's probably more dependent on player-specific reads than anything else, I realize. But, if you have relatively many cold callers, are you less likely to call with that borderline hand because if many people are cold calling, at least one person, plus the raiser, could have you dominated? Or do you figure that by having more cold callers, your equity edge goes up, allowing you to stay in (or even re-raise)?

More cold callers, more dead money, more likely I'd be to play the hand. A read on EP would be helpful, though.

I really think all this worrying about these very specific preflop situations is going overboard. When there isn't a concensus, it's probably because it don't matter much what you do.

FWIW I'd coldcall QJs+ with an unknown EP raiser and 4 coldcallers.
