Re: Mistake to slow play this?
Smooth calling the flop is fine here looking for him to commit more chips on the turn. Villan probably has a pair or a flush draw.
When the 3rd 7 comes off and he makes another significant bet into you, I think I would be done here with the hand. You're now only ahead of a bluff and unless you've seen opponent limp in EP and bluff off his chips I'm folding here giving him credit for a bigger pair than ducks and cursing the 7 coming off. You're only other line would be to smooth call the turn and reraise the river with deeper stacks on a bluff, but I don't think you have the FE for that big of a pot to get him to fold here. |

Re: Mistake to slow play this?
A raise on the flop is definitely in order. Villain is not going away with a 7, flush draw or overpair. Start getting the money in now, if you're getting paid off, you're getting paid off big.
Calling the turn might be ok, but calling the river is not. Your hand is no good anymore. EDIT: Now that I think about it, I think I like a turn raise - maybe even a min-raise. Try to get a free or cheap showdown or win it there. This hand was played too passively. |
