Default How to tell if you are running bad. (Or good)

You get a straight, flush or full about once every 200 hands. (Actually a little less but the aproximation is fine) So for 20K hands you should have 100 of each. All premiums should win at least 80%. You one pair win % should be around 44% and two pair around 55%.

This is just a logical extension of some solid players misc stats tab. I also look at the standard deviation of a block of time sometimes. A lower standard deviation means on average you were dealt weaker hands.

If you want to try my analysis out, find a chunk of time where you ran hot 6 BB/100 or greater for 4K hands and crunch the numbers. Then do the same for a solid losing streak. Post both sets of numbers in this thread for everyone to see.

On one of my worst 5/10 6m downswings, over a 10k sample I have a total of 346 straights, 197 flushes, and 182 boats in the misc tab. I'm confused. Are you sure your numbers are right, or am I just a dumbass and looking at the wrong section?

His calculations probably don't count the hands you fold. Try clicking the "show only hands that were not folded" button.

Cool idea. My premiums are not winning 80% of the time though, more around 70ish for JJ-KK. Also my win % for one pair hands is not as high, but this may be due to the fact I call down with a lot of weak holdings because I am such a LAG.

Crunching data.

12800 hands at 4.14 BB/100
Should have 64 of each premium (straight, flush, full house) winning at 80% or better
straight 86-87%
flush 81-82%
full 66-89%
one pair running at 37%
two pair running at 53%

10200K hands at (3.4) BB/100
Should have 51 of each premium
straight 45-75%
flush 47-72%
full 39-89%
one pair hands 44%
two pair hands 49%

It's pretty clear that my premium hands performed much worse in my downswing. I also received many less premiums. It's one reason why I was able to keep my head up during a such a bad patch of cards.

there is no way in hell those hands will win 80. even KK is not supposed to win 80.
