i hate old guys slowing the game down....
playing this crappy 1/2 NL 100 max Saturday afternoon.. dealer screw-up causes this old man to pay a big blind twice.. which he starts throwing a fit over.. so as they are calling the floor, i throw the $2 in front of him and say deal the cards, everything is fine.. but no.. we have to wait a few minutes for the floor, then 10 minutes of arguing between the old man, the dealer, the floor, and this other old man that knows everything.. so in the cutoff, i put out the small blind, the big blind and a straddle and say lets just play.. who gives a [censored] about $2.... 5 minutes later they make him post and we finally get a hand..
the same man always takes forever when we play.... so much so, if he is on my immediate right, i act out of turn almost every hand. for instance, after the deal, the doesn't even touch his cards until it gets to him which is fine.. but then he just sits there until the dealer tells him or motions to him, then he looks at them for about 20 seconds... every MF hand... so i just act when it gets to him every time.. screw the old bastard. he plays all the time, and the dealers don't say [censored]. some of the would say something to me for acting out of turn, but now know how the old man is and it looks like they are glad i'm doing it since it gets the action going the rest of the way around... I DETEST THESE GUYS... DON'T THEY HAVE SOME BUSY CITY STREET TO GO DRIVE VERY SLOWLY DOWN... |

Re: i hate old guys slowing the game down....
Yeah, they annoy the crap out of me, too, but:
1) It's not a race 2) If you're there to take their money, you can at least be a little more gracious about it 3) When you do take their money, it's that much sweeter 4) It's cheaper than buying tickets to the show |

2) If you're there to take their money, you can at least be a little more gracious about it [/ QUOTE ] Yup. These guys practically give their money away a lot of the time, so it pays to keep them in the game at almost whatever cost. Just hope they don't pair up their AARP card on the river to win the hand... |

Re: i hate old guys slowing the game down....
it's pathetic when this one moron turns a 30 hph game into a 20 hph game... most of the dealers at this casino are in the running for the worst in the western hemisphere anyway, they definately don't need help slowing down.
last time i played with him, i was in 1 seat he was in 10 he holds his cards up where 1 and 9 can see them plain as day, and he's taking 15 seconds to fold q5o... after i start my acting ahead of him as if he isn't even there, the action often gets all the way around and we are still waiting on this moron.. |

Re: i hate old guys slowing the game down....
Yesterday, I was playing in a 1/2 NL game but it was a 35-year old who was taking forever. It's usually the kids who wear sunglasses and baseball caps who slow the game down.
Just a view from a middle-ager. |

Re: i hate old guys slowing the game down....
Yah, I was playing a $2/4 game the other day, and the dealer got seriously confused when someone came back to the table when the blinds were passing his seat.
Net result was that I paid the big blind, found myself in front of the big blind, then paid it again on the third hand. I didn't say anything. The crusty old man (there's always one at a $2/4 table) was already raking her over the coals for absolutely everything she did, wrong or otherwise, and jebus farkin' kryss on rollerblades, it's just a $2 blind. I managed to live through it without any significant game delay. But I may need to seek therapy. |
