Top pair + flush draw
Newbie seeking comments on playing a tricky hand:
Villain is TA (15/8), UTG+1 calls everything but never raises (69/0). Called pre-flop (should I have raised to try to get HU with UTG+1?) since UTG+1 was so loose. Flop came, I was very happy with it, and decided to go for a check-raise, but got re-raised by the Villain. Now it was obvious he had something good, but I had to call because I had top pair and flush draw. Turn did not help me, nor Villain I assumed. UTG+1 was naturally a total mystery. Villain bet, I though the flush draw alone gave me the odds to call, which I did. River did not help, and after Villain bet and UTG+1 only called, I decided to call since Villain could have had JJ/TT or maybe even AQ. Comments on my play? Re: Top pair + flush draw
You can fold the river.

Re: Top pair + flush draw
I would cap the flop 100% of the time, and probably not overcall on the river. When Villian 3-bets the flop, he probably has outkicked, or worse. That doesn't mean you shouldn't cap the flop though. With UTG+1 hanging around and 2 cards to come, it's a value raise.

Interesting. At game speed I would fold the river but I guess you can't with this read. Nice hand. Brad |
