Default first hand at the table... standard push?

25 NL, i just sat down, first cards dealt to me

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (10 handed) converter

MP1 ($20)
MP2 ($30.4)
Hero ($25)
CO ($15)
Button ($14.55)
SB ($36.85)
BB ($31.3)
UTG ($29.45)
UTG+1 ($30.85)
UTG+2 ($23.45)

Preflop: Hero is MP3 with K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. MP1 posts a blind of $0.25. Hero posts a blind of $0.25. CO posts a blind of $0.25. SB posts a blind of $0.1.

I don't push in that situation, but I will make a healthy raise, maybe to about $9. Too often everyone will fold to your push.

No it's not. This is a horrible push imo. You're only getting called if you're beat in this situation (which SB probably dropped a set on you) and you have a flush draw out there. You make a decent size raise and play the hand out. You caught a nice river, but you're spewing chips by pushing here.

30 hands into this session and i'd also make a more modest raise (probably $5-6)... too many times a push will only be called by a set. But at 25NL, first hand at the table, this huge overbet looks horrible and i think will get called by worse hands pretty often.

Yes, and when I played them my BB/100 was over 60 for 5K hands. Yes, 60. I know these tables well.
