Default AQo gets in through the back door

Villian here is quite loose (VP 50+) and generally passive. Mainly not sure about the river. Do you 3-bet this river and call a cap? Can I 3-bet and fold to a cap? How is the turn bet?

Party Poker 1/2 Hold'em (7 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is BB with Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].

Hero checks, Button checks.

Turn: (2.25 BB) 7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players)

i would have bet the flop. 2 overcards and the flush draw.

turn: played the same.

river: hmmm...i think i'm calling. he didn't fear a possible flush made on the turn, so i'd put his [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] pretty high.

Bet the flop. I always bet the flop against few opponents if I raise preflop unless the board is very scary, this isn't. You win so many pots by just autobetting the flop when you miss. If you have AJ for instance many people fold if an K or a Q comes and if A or J comes you hit your hand. I just call a river raise with a Q.

Your river play is fine.

Your flop play is bad.

Note that if your positions were reversed, you should raise and call the 3-bet.

Villian goes to plenty of showdowns, he's not folding to a flop most times. Also, since he's passive I think I usuallly have a good chance to see the turn for free. Are you advocating betting the flop for value? Because I don't see much folding equity here.

I reallly think that a flop bet gets you to showdown UI. I think that you do have some folding equity here, not to mention the fact that you're probably already ahead.

ya, definitely. If i Don't bet the flop I don't see much point in betting the turn unimproved.

Tarding:

I 3-bet/cap. The guy limped from the button. Either really weak or just a crappy hand. He could have a straight or a crappy flush, a variety of other hands that would lead him to raise here. No reason to put him on A or K flush without specific river reads to that effect.

Bet the flop. You figure to be about a 55/45 favorite, even if he calls you.
