Default Party 5/10 pl game

I have 2300, villian (seems solid) has me covered.

Short stack with 170 min raises utg, I make it 50 to go with AA, villian calls from the bb.

Flop: 4 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]5 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]8 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (Pot: 152)

Villian checks, shortstack checks, I check.

Turn: J [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (Pot: 152)

Villian checks, shortstack checks, I bet 125, Villian raises to 300, shortack folds, I call.

River: Q [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (Pot: 752)

Villian bets 200, I call.

How did i do?

Looks ok to me. If you did have the Ad, you may want to make a just-in-case bluff of $700 more if villain is capable of laying down hands.

As played, you are probably beat, but you never know.

Your line is fine if you are OK making this fairly routine call down. Not betting the flop fails to define your hand and will generate more action from hands you are ahead of. If you dont like snapping off these bets (from either bluffs or second best hands convinced they are best), then bet the flop and the hand will generally play itself out simpler, but with not necessarily the highest EV.

Look back on some of bruiser's top pair hands where he didn't define his hands very well and ended up facing some very challenging situations. If you are OK with this, then your line seems fine.

Do you really think a river raise will fold 2 pair or a set often enough to make it profitable here? How likely is it that villain here is making a blocking bet?

I see these small bets a lot where they're exactly blocking bets. From his eyes, hero could for sure have just hit a flush. If image is right and opponent is capable of blocking bets like this and folding, then I like a raise once in a while.

For the most part, I like playing overpairs and TPTK like this once in a while as well and usually will just call the river there.
