Moving up to 3/6 -- thoughts and hands
After 16,000 hands with a solid winrate on 2/4, I finally decided to give Party 3/6 a shot last week. My initial thoughts:
-- It's quite a bit more tight and aggressive, on average. Lots of blind stealing and defending, more preflop raising, more 3-betting. That being said, it still does seem to be possible to find loose tables. -- There are still quite a few very loose, clueless people playing, so even if there are better players, I know I'm not nearly the worst at this level. Here are a coupe of hands I played that I would love some feedback on: Hand 1: Party Poker 3/6 Hold'em (8 handed) converter Preflop: Hero is Button with J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. 5 folds, Hero raises, 1 fold, BB calls. Flop: (4.33 SB) 2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players) BB checks, Hero bets, BB calls. Turn: (3.16 BB) 3[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players) BB checks, Hero bets, BB raises, Hero 3-bets, BB calls. Is the action on the turn usually indicative of me being beat? I'm guessing it is, and I was getting too aggressive and spewing chips. Hand 2: Party Poker 3/6 Hold'em (10 handed) converter Preflop: Hero is MP3 with J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. CO posts a blind of $3. 4 folds, MP2 calls, Hero calls, CO (poster) checks, Button calls, SB raises, BB calls, MP2 calls, Hero calls, CO calls, Button calls. Flop: (12 SB) T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (6 players) SB bets, BB folds, MP2 folds, Hero raises, CO folds, Button calls, SB calls. Turn: (9 BB) 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (3 players) SB checks, Hero bets, Button calls, SB calls. River: (12 BB) 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (3 players) SB checks, Hero bets, Button folds, SB calls. Final Pot: 14 BB I think this seems pretty standard, but I just want to make sure I'm not overplaying it, or making other mistakes. |

I don't like the 3-bet on the first hand.
Hand 2 is beautiful. |

It seemed like it was going to be a really good board, but the articles stopped coming, and the forum got really dead for a long time. So sad. |

I don't like the 3-bet on the first hand. [/ QUOTE ] That's what I figured. So what do you think is correct? Fold? Call down? Call and check/fold unimproved on the river? |

I'd been thinking that was a raiseable situation, but I talked myself out of it... JQs seems like something you'd want more limpers to come in for if possible. What's the reasoning behind a PF raise in that spot? |

Re: Moving up to 3/6 -- thoughts and hands
Hand 1: I call down. If he is trying to get you off of your hand, he'll bet the river, you call, you win. 3-betting the turn may get him to fold a worse hand, and you don't want that.
Hand 2 is fine, but you may consider a raise pf with that poster's $$$ in there. By the way, 16K hands is nothing. Be afraid. Be very afraid. |

What's the reasoning behind a PF raise in that spot? [/ QUOTE ] The pot is almost twice it's normal size before the cards are dealt, you can get dead money in there, some moron open-limped ahead of you with trash, you can win the button, and worse hands will want to coldcall. |
