AK at my new limit
So I just moved up to 1/2, and got this hand. I'm not sure if it was correct to call the river. I felt there was a chance that I may have induced a bluff that I could beat by checking, but I got to thinking about it...I had no reads, and I've read that players at 1/2 stop calling flops with absolutely nothing, so he very easily could have top pair, and is just passive.
Let me know what you think...comments on all streets appreciated. Re: AK at my new limit
Looks like MP2 was drawing or playing a Queen with no kicker. If you're gonna bet the turn I say bet the river too and you can fold to a raise. Especially if you're just gonna call the river anyways.

I figure the way my hands go if I bet again on the river I get called with something that beats me or I get reraised then what? To me it looks like your bet is going to be called and why would someone be calling the aggressor with this board unless he held something? I'm working on this river value betting, check/calling, etc., really I am Shill! |

I would have called this river also. If BB had called, though, I would have folded.

Re: AK at my new limit
I always feel as if I'm just spewing chips if I'm the one doing all the betting UI and passives are just calling me down. Does anyone ever just check the turn in these situations?

I've read that players at 1/2 stop calling flops with absolutely nothing [/ QUOTE ] Haha... good one... I'd check / fold the turn. Ace high will win a few showdowns but not too many, and I wouldn't feel comfortable paying 2 more BB to find out. You don't have odds to hit your 5 outer and there's two flush on the board, so I'd just check and hope to see a free river. This changes if you have a read that both players are likely to fold the turn, but this isn't going to happen often enough to be the only reason for your bet. If you check the turn then you can be more confident that a river bet from BB is a bluff, making it an easier call. I'd still call this river, MP2 could have a busted flush draw or something. Edit: Woops... looks like you have 8 outs with your jack outs. I'd check/call the turn then. |
