Just past the rebuy period, blinds 100/200, average stack is probably 12k. 4 or 5 people at my table have 15k+. An unknown in EP with 8k raises to 600, folded to me in CO with JJ. I have 4.4k and push. Blinds are still low compared to stack sizes so I thought about calling and playing it hard if I flopped an overpair

So you risked 4400 to win 900 vs. an EP raiser and 4 people to act behind you with JJ. Do you feel this is a long term +EV?

You don't think he'll come me a lot of times with something I'm ahead of?
So is it a call? Fold to overcards+aggression? |

I don't think you have any choice here but to call and see a flop. To push here is -EV, and reraising commits too many of your chips. You have position on the EP raiser, so use it. See what the flop brings, and play accordingly. If you hit your set, you'll probably be able to take down a nice size pot. If you miss and there are a couple of overcards, you can get out cheap. The blinds are still insignificant compared to your stack--as Chief said, why risk more than 4K to win 900.

Additionally: Make sure to use your positional advantage as much as possible in tournaments (position is negated when you simply shove your chips into the middle). Call and play poker after the flop. Even if the flop comes something like 589 you have to make a read on your opponent if he bets out strong on the flop. It's not an easy hand to play after the flop either. You might not lose much in the long term by mucking here, for what its worth, it might feel strange, but when you think about the odds and your stack size, it's not an unreasonable move. |

bad push. why risk so much. I think he should only call with hands that beat you.
