Default What does villians comment mean?

Villian is 32/3 after 150 hands. I have notes on him that says he might very well chase w/ improper odds.

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (7 handed) converter

BB ($91.5)
UTG ($188.38)
MP1 ($72)
MP2 ($100)
CO ($61.2)
Hero ($229.1)
SB ($100.5)

Preflop: Hero is Button with 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. MP2 posts a blind of $1.5. CO posts a blind of $1.5. SB posts a blind of $0.5.
UTG calls $1, MP1 calls $1, MP2 (poster) checks, CO (poster) checks, Hero calls $1, SB (poster) completes, BB checks.

Flop: ($8) K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (7 players)
SB checks, BB checks, UTG checks, MP1 folds, MP2 checks, CO checks, Hero bets $6, SB folds, BB folds, UTG calls $6, MP2 folds, CO folds.

Turn: ($20) Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players)
UTG checks, Hero bets $17, UTG calls $17.

Before he calls, he types in the chat: "I don't believe you have the flush, I'm staying w/ my 2-pair."

River: ($54) 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players)
UTG checks, Hero checks, UTG calls $1, MP1 calls $1, MP2 checks, CO checks, Hero calls $1, SB calls $0.50, BB checks, SB checks, BB checks, UTG checks, MP1 folds, MP2 checks, CO checks, Hero bets $7, SB folds, BB folds, UTG calls $6, MP2 folds, CO folds, UTG checks, Hero bets $24, UTG calls $17, UTG checks, Hero checks.

Final Pot: $55

1. Do you usually bet the river?
2. What do you make of his comment?

I checked because of the comment, but would probably have bet otherwise.

i would bet the river every time.
i'm not sure what to make of his comment, but i wouldn't let him talk me out of betting when i have every reason to believe i have the best hand.

what happened with that hand history btw?

I think you somehow got another hand's river in there. All the suddenly there's a whole lot of people in the hand and a bunch of betting that doesn't make any sense.

Regarding comments- its so difficult to say since I've seen both used with equal frequency.

Which sounds more probable?
I just wrote out a long analysis and deleted it. Frankly, I don't see how comments like this can be evaluated without being able to judge (1) Is he telling the truth? (2) does he expect you to believe he's telling the truth? -- and depending on the 4 permutations of that (ie Y/Y, Y/N, N/Y, N/N) what he would hope to accomplish.

So ignore his comments. I would bet the river. You have the 3rd nut flush, he's never played back at you.

Damn. I'm sorry about the HH.

He checked the river, and I checked behind due to his comment. In my experience, comments like that (like the one used by Matt Damon in Rounders) almost always mean he can beat what he says he does not believe I have.

I've seen a lot of people tell, on line at least, tell the truth. The odd thing about the truth in poker... no one expects it or believes it.

If you're right, the only hand he could have is a better flush. And there's only 2 cards left better then yours.

I'd still risk it. I type things occasionaly, and whether it the truth, a bluff, or just something to make me laugh is pretty much random.

-Scotty Nguyen on the last hand of his WSOP win.

Now that is pimpish.

Doesn't Matt Damon (w/ 9s full of Aces) say, in his big losing hand vs. KGB, "I don't believe you have the flush" and KGB answers "that's right, I don't" and flips over A A for aces full over 9s?

I can't wait to see what he had, if he doesn't have a flush that's just hilarious.
