Bad call?
Villian in the hand had been playing lots of hands, maybe 6 of last 10. He had lost about 1/2 his stack in the same 10 or so hands. With the smoothcall and then flop push, I didn't put him on a great hand like a set, because the push looks like he wants me to fold. Medium pair? Maybe. If both my cards were live, am I priced into this pot?
I figured he just didn't want a showdown. Terrible call? Re: Bad call?
I think you are priced in here. Assuming he doesn't have a set already, you'll catch a Q or A about 25% of the time. You are getting 3:1 on the call which is just enough for a call. You may even be ahead. OTOH if you fold you are still the chip leader. A lot of people here would not want to jeopardize the chip lead on a draw. Of course you have to think about the fact that you raised to $800 and folded to a flop bet. Your opponents may lose respect for you and start to test you a little more. I would make this call just to let them know I am not stealing with crap and I will protect my children.

Re: Bad call?
On paper, that looks like a pretty poor play, especially given your strong position. If you fold now, you still have the chip lead, so just looking at the one hand I'd say bad call.
However, I am a big fan of gut feelings and instincts, so if your brain was telling you to call, go ahead. |

Re: Bad call?
learn some odds, most players dont realize how close the odds are. ATo vs 76s its like 58/42. AQ improves 25% of the time, add the chance u might be ahead and substract the chance u might be dominated(set,A9,etc)If u have chips use them dont fold good CVcalls( other 2+2er might come with the FE crap, however they play higher buy-ins)

Re: Bad call?
Are you assuming he has a weak made hand? If so 6 outs on the flop gives you about 4:1, and calling 820 into a 2520 pot is only getting 3:1? I am new, however, so please correct me if I have this wrong.
I dont like assuming a complete bluff, so I think he must have paired the board at least. I doubt he had a set, as that would be an prime slowplay opporunity. |

Re: Bad call?
I would definitely call the raise. You can't let someone just stop+go like that with any 2 cards. If you are going to fold in a spot like that, you simply must move allin preflop. If you plan to fold when you miss and BB bets out your raise preflop is just terrible.

Re: Bad call?
A 25% chance of winning is the same thing as getting 3:1 odds. To change from odds to percentages its 1/(1+3) which equals 25%.
