Default when it all goes wrong. a poll.

You're very clearly in a downswing. Your QQ is beaten by KK on a rag board, your K high flush loses to the A high, stuff like that. Do you:

Don't change.

Just play your usual game for however long you usually play.

It's part of the game and shouldn't affect you.

Other: Analyze my play. If it is fine, don't worry about it unless I run into bankroll problems.

play fewer hands (an hour, instead of 3, for example), take a couple days off, stuff like that.

Ah, phew. For a minute there I thought you were talking about 'waiting for luck to pass' or similar crap.

Most experienced posters will tell you that you shouldn't change how much you play just because you are in a downswing. Being in a downswing should not be confused with poor play, though.

That stuff makes me happy whenever it happens because I know it is just variance, not my bad play. What really gets me angry is when I make a questionable play and/or get confused in a hand. Then I tend to get mad at myself.

Depends on the manner of downswing:

-If it's KK running into AA, my AA running into KK hitting a King, my King-high flush running into a nut flush, I do the ol' Scotty Nguyen "DAT RIMIT, BABEEE!", and move on.

-If it's AA getting snapped off by a runner-runner frush with a GrannyMae, or my A high flush with AKs running into a SF by some donk playing 84s to my preflop cap, I put that player on my buddy list, and play more, as I will get it all back, with interest...even as marginal a player as I am. This falls under the heading of "good table selection."
