Summer Vegas Trip, and I\'m planning it
This summer, 5 friends and I are road-tripping to Vegas. We are all poor college students, aka we are balling on a budget. I am pretty much planning this trip. I know these questions have probably been asked millions of times on here, but whatever, people like talking about Vegas.
Two questions: 1. Of places you have stayed at, what do you think is the best combo of price/location/halfway-decent hotel? 2. What are some decent (straight) bars that don't have a $20-$30 cover? I have been looking at vegas.com but wanted to hear what you had to say as well. Thanks to those who answer. |

[/ QUOTE ] The past few trips that I have taken I stayed at either Imperial Palace or Flamingo. Flamingo is a little pricier than the IP but it is quite a bit nicer. Both are within a reasonable distance from Caesar's/MGM/Bellagio/Mirage/Aladdin/Etc. |

1. Of places you have stayed at, what do you think is the best combo of price/location/halfway-decent hotel? [/ QUOTE ] The Aladdin, Monte Carlo, NYNY, Luxor and Excalibur all often have rooms available for about $100/night. There are others. I'd check expedia.com or travelocity.com and find a big hotel on the strip if possible. [ QUOTE ] 2. What are some decent (straight) bars that don't have a $20-$30 cover? [/ QUOTE ] Go to the Hard Rock. Drink at the center bar. Super hot chicks in every direction. No cover, it's right in the middle of the casino. Back when I was your age, I used to be a fan of The Beach. Get there before midnight and this link will save you $15 each. |

1. Of places you have stayed at, what do you think is the best combo of price/location/halfway-decent hotel? [/ QUOTE ] Check out these two places: America's Best Value Inn Motel 6 Both of these are on Tropicana, pretty much directly across the street from the MGM Grand. The America's Best Value Inn property used to be a Rodeway Inn, if it matters. Safe neighborhood. |

Re: Summer Vegas Trip, and I\'m planning it
I stayed at Barbary Coast last time and the rooms were fairly nice. A smaller hotel so it is easy to get everywhere. You have poker rooms on all four sides - Bellagio, Bally's and Flamingo. Plus you are an easy walk to Monte Carlo, IP, and MGM.
Barbary has a shuttle to their sister properties - Gold Coast which is next to Palms and Rio (2 other nice rooms) and to Orleans. Plus, the rates are usually pretty darn low. |
