Default 2/4 AKs

My actions were essentially arbitrary since I didn't have as much time to think all this out during the hand. How'd I do?

Oh, and as for reads...

Button thinks he's good, he will call with a wide range of hands here to try and outplay the opponents postflop. His concept of outplaying is putting in 1 more bet than the opponent.

MP probably has 2 decent cards. But he raises from the CO a lot and is the kind of guy that has to raise a certain # of hands per hour. This one is his due, I feel. So he doesn't have a very good hand.

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (6 max, 5 handed) converter

Hero ($400.4)
BB ($420.1)
UTG ($1089.6)
MP ($535.9)
Button ($654.6)

Preflop: Hero is SB with K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. Hero posts a blind of $2.
1 fold, MP raises to $15, Button calls $15, Hero (poster) calls $13, 1 fold.

Flop: ($49) 7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (3 players)
Hero bets $30, MP calls $30, Button raises to $90, Hero calls $60, MP calls $60.

Turn: ($319) J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (3 players)
Hero checks ...

With the intention of? Check/folding? That's what I don't like about this hand. Fortunately this scenario didn't come up.

... MP checks, Button checks.

River: ($319) K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (3 players)
Hero checks, MP checks, Button bets $250, Hero calls $250, MP folds.

Final Pot: $819

Does anybody else like pushing the flop? I suppose the call is fine if you are really sure that button is likely to try and represent a flush when it hits. You have to wonder what MP has, given his PF raise and his smooth call here, he must have lower diamonds? Low suited broadways? Suited connectors? I'm fairly sure he'd put in a raise somewhere here with TT and up, and would have to fold two offsuit broadways on this flop to your bet.

The only hand you are in trouble with button having is a flopped set, but I think that a push on this flop if you get MP to come along with lower diamonds (which he might think is a good move) is a +EV move. Not to mention you have a lot of fold equity if button is playing a weak hand and trying to steal.

Betting the flop would make more sense if you intended to push when raised, I think. It's not even much of an overbet at that point.

I like pushing the flop, especially against this guy. If you for sure were up against a set when that raise comes in, obviously. Like on poster said, makes more sense to bet if you push when you're raised.
