DMBFan23 is -25 BBs in 300 hands of 5/10. I would avoid him, if you dislike money.

seems like there is no place for 5/10 players on 2+2. everyone talks 2/4 and 3/6 here and mid-stakes is all about the 15/30+ game.
I am still figuring out the 5/10 game... I see lots of mistakes being made but I am not reaping the rewards of these mistakes yet. I have had a few sweet 5,000 hand upswings totally offset by getting massacred by some serious donk-chasers... it really sucks to get your big pairs repeatedly donked by a donks 96-donk (offsuit). |

All I ever hear about is how brutally tough 5/10 full is. So I assume anyone at any 5/10 table is better than me.

I asked a non 2+2 friend of mine who is beating it for almost 2BB/100 over 100K+ hands what his secret was, and he said "for most 5/10 players, a turn raise almost always means more than one pair".
crappy story, I know. but, I think it shows the game is beatable. |

[/ QUOTE ] IMO this is a big misconception on these boards, right up there with how tough the 1/2 game is. There are more good players, the games in "GENERAL" tend to be tighter. But really this can all be overcome with table selection. I find myself hopping tables and checking out other sites more, but I have not had trouble finding good games. Especially at some of the smaller sites, where 5/10 is viewed as a "big" game the games can be excellent. Fueled by 1/2 players on a hotstreak popping in with $100 buy-in looking to get lucky. But even just on Party, I am not having trouble finding players for my buddy list. Keep in mind that this is only over 15,000 hands, but really I can't think of one regular SS poster that would be in over their heads at 5/10. |

I agree in general Flair, 5/10 with some good table selection plays a lot like 3/6.... One important difference is that 5/10 tends to be even more aggressive pre-flop. Raising from late position is an invitation for AT-off to re-raise from the BB. I don't remember so much how 3/6 played now but I don't remember all the re-raising.
I think paying 3-bets is more common at 5/10. |

Another factor with how this game is concieved (again simaliar to 1/2), is that PF play is better; but many of these guys go right back to "bad" after the flop. You can even see it to a certain extent in their PT statistics 17/8/1 or 23/10/.75 (as an aside my personal favorite over 300 hands 9/8/4). Stuff like that, now granted they may not be the most profitable players to play against, but they are definetly but they definetly do not make the table -EV. I am not saying the whole thing is a cakewalk, but really it is not hugely different than 3/6. I would argue that most profitable 3/6 posters on these boards would be giving themseleves a raise by playing 5/10 full. |

I think that's why you hear so much here about how tough the 5/10 is. A lot of people don't know how to evaluate a game other than by the preflop stats. |
