Live aggresion level?
I play primarily live games and therefore only have my overall wins and losses to rate my game by... does anyone have any ideas how to document or analyze my aggression level at a live table?

Re: Live aggresion level?
a lot of "live pros" take notes druing a game. If you don't want to be "that guy" with a notepad- buy a pda or some electroic gadget and use i to track your bets/calls/raises- if you keep it out all the time and have a game like tetris open everyone will think you are a geek and not care.

[/ QUOTE ] lol... I've got the geek thing down; You should see my hat... think Bob Marley's hat, but with flare! Interesting idea. I think that I could make it work in the back room game, but they tend to take me with a game of salt as it is. I might be paranoid(since I am paranoid) but I feel like they are all keeping their eyes on me. As far as casino's go, I didn't think that you were allowed to have electronic devices at the table... Should I take a sudden interest in "crossword puzzles" at the table? |

Re: Live aggresion level?
I don't know about most casino's rules, all my live game experience has been in back room type games. If they have a rule against electronics AND they enforce it- then crossword puzzles might be the way to go. On the other hand if you have a good memory you could try setting up a system ala card counting in blackjack and keep a running total for the whole session mentally- but that would be just to show off.

Re: Live aggresion level?
Casino sessions, as far and few as they are right now, usually last between 10 and 16 hours, so while I'm sure that I could maintain track for a certain time, my head might actually pop by hour 8. Although...

Re: Live aggresion level?
I know this defeats the purpose somewhat, but how about logging 10k hands online? Try and find a game that mimics the properties of the live games you play in.
Alternatively, just try to remember specific hands where you were unsure about your level of aggression. This is obviously more important then knowing that you have a turn aggression level of 1.83. Write the hands down on the crossword, or when you take a break. I think it might be easier to tune you aggression by working on specific hands rather than stats. |

Re: Live aggresion level?
I don't play online very much, I really prefer live games. Also, ten thousand hands online might not be enough to actually get a good judgement of my abilities. It's too small a subset, you know?
I'm just wondering how long I can get away with the crossword thing before people get suspicious... "need any help?" Anyways, does anybody else have any ideas? |
