Default I only have a twenty, should I tip?

Long story short: I leave my keys at work. I go to happy hour. I get drunk. I then realize I'm keyless. Office is now closed. I stumble home. Front desk person says he'll call maintenence. Guy comes from his house 15 minutes away. He opens the door. I only have a $20 bill. I give it to him.

Rationale: (1) He's less likely to steal my [censored] if he has to do maintenence when I'm gone. (2) Last thing Dude wants to do on a Friday night is drive his ass up here to open a door for a drunk 22-year old. (3) It was still cheaper than a locksmith.

Ignoring my horrendous play pre-flop (no keys), flop (get trashed), and turn (then realize), how was my play on the river?

I think buying him a present > giving him a 20.

I agree. Overdone poker metaphors should be greated with violence and fire.

And this from a man who says "so totally not".

I think the poker metaphore is ok if you're lying about being 22, and your actual age is between 12 and 14.

Probably not. I think it's pretty standard for a person to give a nice gift to a person who went out of their way to do something as nice as this guy did to the OP. Of course I'd prefer the 20, but it seems somewhat odd IMO to give a guy a 20 IMO.

Gift? really? what kind of gift, i have no idea what i would possibly give a maintenance guy, plus it takes time to actually go out and buy something (something girls appreciate but not guys), and you don't have it for him right then so he thinks your a cheap prick for not tipping him

$20 bill is the play here
